A building that was once conceived to reach a height of over one mile (1.6 km) will soon become a reality at a slightly shorter stature (1 km, or 3,280 feet) that will still set a record. Designed by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill (pictured) of Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture of Chicago, Illinois, the Jeddah Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is under construction and is expected to be complete in 2020.
