WHY I ATTENDED JOSEPH YOBO'S TESTIMONIAL.

Cameroon international Samuel Eto’o never lost his smile through his interview with or correspondent Bayo Adeshina. He had been cornered by some reporters at Adokie Amiesimaka Stadium, PortHarcourt, at the Joseph Yobo Testimonial to officially signal the end of two decades of his professional football career.
WHO IS SAMUEL ETO’O?
I am a human being. I was lucky to make my passion a profession, but I remain only a part of a generation of players, a father and a husband. I love my kids and my wife and I try to be fair to all.
FAVOURITE CLUB? Football is really about game of the transfer window. But most importantly for me is to continue to have fun. I am competitive by nature and so need competition to go on. When I was younger, I had two dreams: to play for PSG and Marseille. Of course I was influenced by watching Weah and Abedi Pele. Before Barcelona came for me, I had contact with PSG and had lunch with Luis Fernadez in an Italian restaurant near the hotel George V. I was really happy to be close to Paris. The coach really wanted me, he had really nice words that lead me to think that it was the team I wanted. It was a thing I wanted to do remembering the exploit of George Weah there. Then, there was the issue of Veledrome, one of the finest stadiums in the world, I wanted to play there. But things did not work out and so I went to Barcelona.
RACIAL ABUSE.
The issue of racial abuse is real and I have always spoken about it. I experienced it in Spain and Italy, I was so mad and I almost abandoned the game.
But even we Africans also abuse ourselves racially. When I was in Chelsea, I was out shopping when I saw a wristwatch that I liked. I asked the sales woman who was also black like me – can you show me that watch please? But instead of showing me the watch she looked at her co-workers asking them if she should show me the watch. Eventually she let me see the watch and I said okay I will buy it.
I gave her my credit card but she declined. I had to call my brother, who explained to her that I could buy the watch because I play for Chelsea. If one of our makes a mistake they judge us all, if one whit man comes to Africa and makes a mistake should we judge them all? No.
The security guard from Senegal kept on justifying what the woman did, but when I told him my name he shrugged and said just yesterday y wife and I were talking about you and then we took a picture together.
WHY DID YOU COME OVER TO PLAY FOR YOBO DESPITE THE DISTANCE?
I came to play for my friend Yobo along with other friends. His a great pal from Europe especially in England, we have been like brothers so I just had to be here at his invitation.
