BUHARI'S CHANGE MANDATE: CORRUPTION FOR ETHNIC JINGOISM.(PART1)
Nothing can be totally bad even when it is orchestrated by the devil, Men that go for money ritual, get money in return but later become victims of predicament that overweigh the wealth they got. So the Buhari administration despite slow and not progressive deserves some commendations, for its fight against corruption and Bokoharam insurgency in Nigeria.
Do our benefits outweigh our loss?No that's the answer on the lips of every Nigerian that answers this question without sentiments.
Historians will not be quick to forget the Aguyi Ironsi tenure as Head of State and in fact they will be quick to draw a comparison between the January 15,1966 regime and that of the present Buhari administration.
A short trip down the Nigerian history, will remind us of how Aguyi ironsi got into government during the military regime by rising after a successful coup against the then present Tafawa Balewa government. This lead to the death of the Northern emirate and some of his cabinet members. When Aguyi Ironsi stepped into the government as head of state, he successfully groomed an ethnic war in Nigeria by the nepotism that surrounded his appointments. When he was to promote twenty two military officers he allocated eighteen of those positions to the Igbo tribe and the remaining to the other ethnic groups. The Northerners saw the Aguyi Ironsi government as one that marginalized the Northerners and as an "Igbo government". This lead to different yearnings in the north and Aguyi Ironsi was quick to identify his mistake unlike the present administration. He made moves to pacify the Northerners by giving them some juicy appointments but it was too late as the grievances of the Northerners did not subside. This lead to his death and also the death of Adekumle Fajuyi while they were in Ibadan. Here is the similarity between the Buhari and Aguyi Ironsi. A decisive look at the appointments of the head of all major security agencies shows pure nepotism, with religious jingoism. People appointed to this positions are not only Northerners but Muslims.
Minister of Defense, Brig.General Mansour Dan Ali(rtd), Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Yusuf Burati, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar, Minister of Interior, General Abdullrahman Dambazu(rtd); General Security Adviser, General Babangana Monguno(rtd); Director General, Departmentof State Security Service,Mr Lawal Musa Daura, Inspector General of police,Mr Ibrahim Kpotun Idris, Director General , Defence Intelligence Agency, Air Vice marshal, Muhammed Babanded , Comptroller- General of prison, Mr Ahmed Ja'afaru, Comptroller General of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, Mr Abdullahi Muhammadu, Chairman Economic and Financial Crimes Commision Ibrahim Magu. Not only are other ethnic groups marginalized, they are also not equally represented in the Buhari cabinet.
I see the president as being pontiferous and only being a jingoist. He has come up with excuses that he is using the who he trusts and efficient, when did the Yoruba's, Igbo's and other ethnic groups cease to be able to produce efficient representatives that are suitable for political appointments. Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe and many other leaders have proved that no Nigerian ethnic group is devoid of people that can represent the country and hold political appointments. ...To be continued.
