Paris Terror Attack:‘Bomb’Explosions Near France-Germany Match, Shootings Kill Dozens

Several explosions were heard during the France-Germany soccer match at the Stade de France north of Paris on Friday, Nov. 13, and a shooting was reported nearby. The Liberation newspaper said the“three explosions sounded almost simultaneously,”including at a bomb near the stadium. According to the Telegraph, a witness said one of the gunmen shouted,“Allah akbar,”a phrase often used by jihadists. “The men came in and started shooting. Everyone fell to the ground. It was hell. I took my mum, and we hid. Someone near us said they have gone, so we ran out. I was only thinking of escaping. We’re out now. I think people are still inside. It’s a nightmare–a nightmare,”said a man identified only as Louis, who was inside the Bataclan theater. One of the gunmen also yelled,“It’s for Syria”inside the theater, according to broadcaster BFMTV, citing a witness. Shocking images from the French stadium, where a soccer match was being played at that moment.French President Hollande was apparently watching the Germany-France match and was moved from the stadium to safety.
